Activate your license
When you activate your plugin for the first time you will be asked to activate a license. This system is put in place to provide better support and automatic updates for people who bought the plugin and to combat pirated copies.
You're notified with a dashboard notification like this:
When you activate your license you are eligible for premium support and will receive automatic updates via your dashboard.
If the plugin you bought is AdRotate Professional, you also get access to AdRotate Geo for Geo Targeting.
AdRotate Geo is exclusively available to AdRotate Professional users with a valid license.
How to activate
When you purchase a plugin you'll receive an email confirming your purchase. Included in this email is a License key and license email. This makes up the license.
You'll find the activation form in the plugin settings. Simply fill in the license key and email and click activate. The form is simple and may look like something like this.
Renewing a license
Licenses expire one year after purchase. This means that if you want to continue to receive Premium Support and Updates you'll need a new license.
Starting a week before the license expires you'll be notified via email that the license is expiring soon. Up to 3 emails are sent. In these emails you're also offered an option to get a new license at a discount.
A 'renewal' is not so much a renewal, but a new license. As such you are not tricked into an automated process and getting a new license is a conscious choice.
After you've bought your new license you'll receive a new license key which replaces the current one on your website.
To replace a license key you go into Settings > License and click De-Activate License.
After the license is de-activated you can activate your new license key as shown above. If there has been an update since you may be prompted to update the plugin.
Development setups
If you have a development site, for example on your localhost server or a subdomain on your primary domain, you can install the plugin on there and simply not register it. The functioning of the plugin is not limited by not registering.
