Black list email addresses and usernames
You'll find all settings for No-Bot Registration in your WordPress dashboard in the Tools menu.
To restrict users from using reserved usernames or prevent fake email accounts you can enable certain limitations on both email addresses and user names.
Failure message
If someone tries to make an account and is stopped by the rules you've set they need to know why. Enter a simple and descriptive message to inform them. Suggest a course of action in the message so that they do not keep getting stuck and give up.
If you have WooCommerce installed, keep in mind that if they can't get past your restrictions they might give up on their sale which means you'll loose revenue.
Be kind and to the point. Being denied the use of your email address or favorite username can cause frustrations.
Blacklisting Email addresses
If you always get spammed from certain email domains you can easily block these addresses with keywords.
As an example: A common practice is that .ru and .cn, or even .ws, addresses are abused for spam a lot. If you spot such behavior simply add those keywords to your list.
Add .ru, .ws, .cn to get rid of ALL email addresses ending in those top level domains.
Likewise, if you don't want people to use common email services such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail on your website you can add @gmail.com and @yahoo.com to your list.
The keywords also work for partial matches. Adding "mail" to your list will also block Gmail and Hotmail users since both those domains have mail in it.
Blacklisting Usernames
This works the same way as the email black list. Adding keywords, or partial words, will block those from being used in user names.
Also here, be mindful of what you add. Adding "admin" to your list also blocks "administrator".
