How to: Update AdRotate Pro to a newer version
Plugin updates are regularly made available and announced on my blog. Updates often include bug fixes, new features and other improvements. It is therefore always recommended to stay up-to-date with your plugins.
If you're not on the latest, or a very recent, version of the plugin the first step in troubleshooting is always to update.
From your WordPress dashboard
Updates are available once you activate your license. The updates will be visible in your WordPress dashboard, just like any other plugin you have installed. For faster updates, or if you want to use Auto-Updates, make sure you have GooseUp installed.
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Dashboard > Updates.
- Click the Check Again button near the top.
- When the update shows up, select the AdRotate Pro plugin and click to install the update. This may take a few seconds.
Manually using (s)FTP or Webdav
- Download the latest version of AdRotate Pro from your account.
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard and disable AdRotate Pro from the plugins page.
- Access your hosting account using your favourite (s)FTP/Webdav client.
- Navigate to /wp-content/plugins/
- On your computer, unzip adrotate-pro.zip file and upload the resulting adrotate-pro folder to the plugins folder.
- Back in your dashboard, navigate to the Plugins dashboard page.
- Re-activate AdRotate Professional.
- For some larger updates you're asked to update the database and settings. This will be a notification along the top of the dashboard.
Alternatively you can finish the update from Settings > Maintenance, near the bottom of the page.
